Roughriders Win First Ever Legion Championship

The Gillette Roughriders have won their first ever state legion baseball championship. Gillette would defeat seven time defending state champions Cheyenne Post Six by a final of 12-0 in a game stopped after 7 innings due to the ten run mercy rule.

Gillette hammered out 11 hits and 4 of them were from Ryan Hutchison. Hutchison had two home runs, a triple, and a double going 4/5 on a huge day with 5 RBI's. Austin Cowan had a 2RBI double in the 7th to add to the big Roughrider lead.

Ryan Iliff took the complete game win on the hill allowing no runs and just six hits.

Gillette will now head to the regional touranment in Bozeman, Montana to take on other state champions in the region.

Ryan Hutchison won the MVP award, and Torrington won the sportsmanship award for the tournament.
