Cynthia Lummis defeated Mark Gordon in the Republican primary for Wyoming's seat in the U.S. House after Tuesday's vote.
With 92% of the precincts reporting, Lummis brought in 46 percent of the vote. Gordon, brought in 38 percent. Challengers Bill Winney and Michael Holland had 12 percent and 4 percent of the votes respectively.
Lummis will challenge Wilson businessman Gary Trauner in the November general election. Trauner was unopposed in claiming the Democratic nomination.
U.S. SENATE
The race between Keith Goodenough and Nick Carter, the two Democrats vying for the right to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. John Barrasso in the fall, was too close to call late Tuesday night. The two candidates were seperated by about 200 votes after more than 20,000 ballots had been counted. Carter had a slight advantage.
Senator Mike Enzi will face university instructor Mike Rothfuss of Laramie in the November general election.
Rothfuss took 62 percent of the votes in Tuesday's primary against fellow democrat Al Hamburg.
