Grizzly bear deaths in Yellowstone National Park rose in 2008 compared to the year before, but the overall population is still on the rise, according to a study out this week.
The Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team told the Powell Tribune this week that an estimated 80 Grizzly Bears died inside Yellowstone this year. That compares to 49 in 2007.
However, the team says the park's bear population is on the rise.
The Grizzly population in Yellowstone rises about 4% per year, and is expected to double within two decades.
