NEW YORK (Reuters) - Right guard Chris Snee has signed a six-year contract extension with the New York Giants, the Super Bowl champions said on Wednesday.
Snee's deal, estimated by local media to be worth $43.5 million, will keep the Giants' formidable offensive line intact for the foreseeable future.
He becomes the third starting offensive lineman to extend his contract since New York clinched Super Bowl XLII, following left guard Rich Seubert and left tackle David Diehl.
Center Shaun O'Hara and right tackle Kareem McKenzie have already signed contracts tying them to the club until the end of the 2012 season.
"I had faith that it would be done," Snee, 26, was quoted as saying on the team's official website (http://www.giants.com).
"I am just happy to have it done before the season and really just have peace of mind and not worry about it and go out and play.
"We have spoken so much about how well we play together and the importance of continuity," he added, referring to New York's offensive line.
"We feel like we're the core group of the offense -- and to keep this group together for as long as we can is important."
A second-round pick by the Giants at the 2004 NFL draft, Snee has started every game he has played for New York. He is known for his outstanding drive blocking in the running game.
